The Wyoming Young Artist Competition

Eligibility: All musicians ages 15-20 who reside in the State of Wyoming. Instrumental application is limited to standard orchestra instruments.

Prizes: Prizes will be awarded in three categories: Instrumental, Vocal and Piano. Prizes will consist of a solo performance with the Northwest Civic Orchestra on Saturday, May 11 and a cash prize of $300. The decision of the judges is final.

Repertoire: For instrumentalist and pianists, one movement from a concerto, or a one-movement work for soloist and orchestra. For vocalists, either one opera, oratorio or cantata aria or another work for voice and orchestra. Application: Each contestant must submit a completed application form either by mail or electronically on or before Friday December 21, 2001. Auditions will be held at the Nelson Performing Arts Auditorium on the campus of Northwest College in Powell, Wyoming on Saturday, January 5, 2002 starting at 1pm. Contestants will be assigned a specific audition time. Applications can be found below in a PDF format.

All contestants, including pianists, must audition with piano accompaniment. If contestants do not have their own accompanists, one is available for a fee of $35. Music should be sent with completed application form. All contestants will have the opportunity to rehearse with their accompanist prior to their audition.

Contestants must bear their own expenses for the January auditions and winners, their own expenses to Powell for the May performance
